January 2010.... Cold and snowy

January 2010 started with a substantial cold spell. Winds were mainly from an easterly direction. The average temperature after the first 14 days was -2.1C, and all of the first 14 days contained an air frost at some point in the day. For 3 days (7th, 8th, 9th) the temperature failed to rise above freezing point any time of the day and with calm winds in the early hours of Friday 8th the temperature dropped to -14.9C.
